The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, coupons to Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.
Eleven-year-old Ainsley Henderson really takes Williamson County School’s BE NICE motto to heart. Combine that with her amazing school work, and it’s easy to see why administrators chose Ainsley as Winstead Elementary School’s Academic All-Star.
“Ainsley is a talented young girl,” said Principal Kathy Wells. “She is quiet, patient and reserved. Her work habits are exemplary in that she takes initiative and pays close attention to details. Ainsley is honest and trustworthy and a true asset to Winstead.”
Ainsley has attended Winstead since second grade when she moved here from Memphis. She says the teachers and students are what make Winstead so special.
“The teachers and staff here are super nice, and I love the classes,” said Ainsley. “At Winstead, you’re able to make a lot of friends, and I have made tons of great friends.”
Her favorite subject is reading and language arts, and when she grows up, Ainsley says she might like to direct theater performances.
“It is so much fun to write,” said Ainsley. “I love to read and write, and the teachers help me learn more about that.”
When she’s not in the classroom, Ainsley likes to play with friends, ride her bike and perform gymnastics.
As a fifth grader who will be attending Page Middle next year, Ainsley says she’ll look back on her time at Winstead with fond memories.
“I love this school a lot,” said Ainsley. “And I am honored to get this award!”
