The Academic All-Star award is given to students who exhibit a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Each Academic All-Star is chosen by his or her principal and receives a framed certificate, coupons to Sonic Drive-In and a free gift courtesy of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More in Franklin.
Kind, respectful and hard-working. Those are just a few of the adjectives used to describe Chapman’s Retreat Elementary fifth grader Lily Naeter, who was recently chosen as the school’s Academic All-Star for the 2015-16 school year.
“Lily works hard for the grades she earns, and she is eager to please,” said Assistant Principal Jill Justus. “This year, Lily has proven that she can work hard to achieve goals, and she has persevered through any problems she has faced.”
Lily says the teachers at Chapman’s Retreat are great and her favorite subject is math. As for making the move to middle school in the fall, Lily says she’ll miss the familiarity of CRES.
“I’ve been here for so long that I know everything about this school,” said Lily. “I’m also a little nervous because I know I’ll have to get shots from the doctor when I go to seventh grade.”
When she’s not in school, Lily loves to play soccer. It’s a sport she’s been playing since she was three years old.
“I play for the Franklin Tennessee Soccer Club,” said Lily. “My position is left winger. I just like playing soccer because it takes my mind off of everything.”
Although she’s still young, Lily says she might like to be a photographer when she grows up. No matter what career she chooses, administrators say Lily’s warm personality and outstanding effort will take her far in life.
“Lily is kind to all of her peers and is respectful to all of her teachers,” said Justus. “We are very pleased to have Lily Naeter represent Chapman’s Retreat Elementary.”
