HOSA Students Win Big at State Conference

Numerous WCS students will travel to Florida this summer to showcase their knowledge in the area of health science at the 40th Annual HOSA International Leadership Conference.

HOSA is a national student organization whose mission is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students.

The HOSA State Leadership Conference was held April 3-5 in Chattanooga. Students who finished in first, second or third place at that conference automatically qualified to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Orlando. That conference will be held June 21-24.

Listed below are the WCS students who placed at this year’s event.

Fairview High School

  • Brittney Yates – 4th in Medical Spelling

Independence High

  • Alexa Clements, Claire Johns, Kaitlin Pisani and Rachel Hill – 1st in Public Service Announcement
  • Mackenzie Hollister – placed among the top 10 percent on the HOSA Chapter Reflection
  • Breanna Imler – placed among top 10 percent on the Health Care Issues Exam

Nolensville High

  • Bret Berry – 3rd in Medical Law and Ethics
  • Sean McDevitt – 4th in Researched Persuasive Writing and Speaking

Page High

  • Peyton Clark, Amanda Justice, Kacie Scott and Reagan Wofford – 2nd in HOSA Bowl
  • Alison Pack and Jow Wilson – 2nd in EMT
  • Journey Hargrove, Chloe Rainey, Anna Rakes and Ayana Ramirez – 4th in Biomedical Debate
  • Alaina Curry and Jaden Rottier – 4th in Medical Innovations
  • Reagan Van Wirt – 4th in Transcultural Health Care
  • Diego Benavides – 5th in Pathophysiology
  • Victoria Jones – 5th in Human Growth and Development
  • Haley Persch – 5th in Medical Math
  • Thomas Powell – scored among top 5 percent on the Health Care Issues Exam

Summit High

  • Sarah Moser – 1st in Clinical Specialty
  • Rebecca Frizzell – 2nd in Transcultural Health Care
  • Tyler Stallings – 2nd in Interviewing Skills
  • Baylee Vannoy – 5th in Medial Spelling
  • Madison Meeks and Alexandra Knutson – scored among top 5 percent on the Health Care Issues Exam
